The following core competencies describe some the skills and observable behaviors that would indicate existence of the competency by a cancer registrar.
Competencies: Self-Management
- Self-Confidence: Has faith in one’s own ideas and capability to be successful; is willing to take an independent position in the face of opposition.
- Stress Management: Is able to continue functioning effectively when under pressure and maintains self-control in the facility of hostility or provocation.
- Personal Credibility: Demonstrated concern that oneself and others are perceived as responsible, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Flexibility: Maintains visible openness to different and new ways of doing things; willingness to modify one’s preferred way of doing things.
